We are shocked and saddened to learn of the death of our drummer, Mark Bargin. He was a great drummer and our own ‘Mr Rock n Roll’ who loved to party and lived full throttle. We will miss him greatly but he will live long in our memories. To those who knew and loved him we send our condolences.

UK Tour and single launch
Had I a cat and an executive-style chair I would feel like Blofeld! Well, except for the hair.

Why? Lots of fun ahead! UK Tour in June. Single launch. Video shoot. Plural perhaps, even. Festivals, probably. Still in the planning phases though so can’t write about it yet. Or in other words: watch this space!

August update (in September)
We picked up a last weekend of sun at the recording studio, where we beltered a night and day away practicing four new and one not-so-new song. We’ve taken them home, and will decide over the next few weeks which ones to record and release as a single.

This is where we record
We’ll be playing 4 of the songs at our next gig, which will be at the Dublin Castle in Camden on Friday September 13th. We’re on at 8:45. Download the flyer here.
After that, a gig in Norwich at the end of October, and we’re started organising our spring tour for May 2014. We’ve pencilled in gigs in Amsterdam, Groningen and Den Bosch in the Netherlands, and are working on gigs in Germany and Belgium, too.
Belting The Netherlands
The band had a brilliant time in Holland (see a video log here: http://youtu.be/xkvL0x64_cc)
Following the long journey from home through the Chunnel (none of us forgot our passports this time but someone DID forget to renew theirs…) we arrived in Amsterdam in just enough time to set down and set out to the Pakhuis Wilhelmina which is situated canal-side and have a few recuperative drinks in the setting sun before watching some excellent acts. Ensor, Avery Plains, Maggie Brown & Those Attic Sounds were all magnificent and the lighting/sound was superb. Great gig to be sandwiched in between those bands!
After a brief stop to play a few acoustic numbers at a garden party, the band drove below sea level to the lovely town of Groningen where we played at the city’s oldest pub “Kroeg Van Klass”. Our set(s) comprised of 30+ Belter originals – every song we know (and a couple we didn’t). Finishing around 2am, the enthusiastic crowd wanted more so we obliged with a reprise of “The Invisible Cat” which included a fine display of pool table top dancing by Rob!
Good to know that we will be back in Europe next May with three excellent dates already sorted.

Before that, there is a chance to catch us at The Brentwood Centre in Essex on Saturday 27th of April as part of a great evening sponsored by Phoenix FM radio & The Brentwood Festival. Tickets are £6 and it all kicks off at 7.30pm.

THE INVISIBLE CAT E.P.
Belter are thrilled to announce that their new EP is on sale NOW!
“The Invisible Cat E.P.” contains three brand new tracks – “The Invisible Cat”, “What’s Your Excuse?” and “Good Times Can Wait” produced by Belter and Stephen Stewart (founder member and guitarist of “The Enid”) whose long list of credits include producing diverse artistes such as Kim Wilde (Kids In America) and Christian Death.
The E.P. is something of a progression for the band, introducing some enormously talented musicians to add brass, strings & slide guitar to compliment the Belter trademark tightly woven rhythms, ear worm melodies & cutting lyrics.
You can download the EP directly from www.belter.bandcamp.com or watch a preview at http://youtu.be/6jjz0M19GqA

Christmas Crackers
We have a couple of exciting gigs lined up for the second week in December. On Friday 7th, we head up to Salford to play at Crescent 20 (www.facebook.com/events/521795967831907/) with “Kill Pretty” & “The Sandells” – two great bands from the Manchester/Salford area. The next day we travel back home to Camden to play at the legendary Dublin Castle (https://www.facebook.com/events/169812629827326/) with “Joy Revision” – the UK’s top Joy Division/New Order tribute band.
The Only Way Is BELTER
Belter play at “The Golden Fleece” in Chelmsford next Thursday 8th of November on a bill absolutely riddled with talent with Benjamin Bloom & East End Promises sharing the stage (Facebook Event: www.facebook.com/events/465844866792874/).
The Fleece (www.facebook.com/golden.fleecechelmsford.7) has been building up a fearsome reputation as a great live venue with events nights already booked up almost a year in advance. So, if you are in reach of the city and are Rock N Roll enough to stay out after 9pm on a schoolnight, pop along!

4/5ths @ Camden Rock
With keyboard wizard James jetting off to the land of the rising sun, the remaining 4/5ths of Belter played at Camden Rock by invitation of Indigo Down (www.indigodown.com) whose support band had pulled out at the last moment.
Special thanks to Promoters Zarathustras Live Events whose front man Zaid looked after the bands for the evening with enthusiasm, the audience who drove us on and the venue whose underground carpark dressing room was awesome!
Al in all a very successful evening – a thousand cheers to all who made it happen.

LastMinute.Belter
Belter play a last minute gig at Camden Rock on Saturday 27th of October (www.camdenrock.co.uk) situated at 18 Kentish Town Road, NW1 9NX. It’s about a brisk 20 second walk from Camden Tube Station (Northern Line) so you should have enough energy left to enjoy not only us but three other top bands.
Entry is £6 and that includes guest DJs from Shine On! spinning indie club classics until 3am! To REALLY twist your arm, there is also a late bar with discounts on selected drinks.
BELTER kick the show off promptly at 8pm, so get there in plenty of time to wind up.

Unplugged & Raw
For the first time in the UK (following successful outings in Amsterdam), Belter bring their “Unplugged” set to London at The Islington, 1 Tolpuddle Street, London N1 0XT for a more intimate show. Stripped down versions of Angelo K’s musical musings show that, beyond the noise & bluster, the songs still stand proud and are as wickedly twisted as ever. We will also be premiering 3 brand new “never heard anywhere before” songs. Which is nice.
The Facebook event can be found at www.facebook.com/events/468612596512034/
Put your name down on the list and have a free night out on us. Food & drink NOT included……
New gigs and old words
We’ve got 2 gigs coming up – one semi-acoustic one in Angel towards the end of this month, and a proper electric one in Chelmsford in November. See the Gigs page for more information. We’re hoping to play 3 brand new songs at these gigs that we’re really excited about…
Looking further ahead, we’re working on a tour of the UK in early December. If you want us to play near you – let us know! Email us at belter@belter.co.uk
And last but not least, the lovely people of Stowfest interviewed Gary, and you can find the result of that here: http://www.stowfestival.com/blog-2012/interview-belter/
